The history of Skyline Gondolas is marked by innovation and a commitment to providing visitors with a remarkable experience.
Introduced in 1967, the gondola made the panoramic views of the awe-inspiring vistas surrounding the town accessible to all, once only enjoyed by the keenest hikers and climbers.
Over time, additions like the Luge and stargazing tours transformed the gondola site into a comprehensive destination for adventure and relaxation under the Southern Hemisphere’s night sky.
Recent Development Project
Skyline Queenstown, now New Zealand’s top visitor attraction with over 900,000 annual guests, recently began a substantial expansion and modernisation project.
The focal point of this upgrade is the introduction of a state-of-the-art 10-seat Gondola to replace the iconic 4-seat Gondola and contemporary Top and Base Terminal buildings. These new terminals not only enhance capacity and comfort for guests but also serve as stylish hubs for entertainment, relaxation, and improved facilities at the summit.
It’s a story of evolution, commitment, and a dedication to preserving the treasures of New Zealand’s remarkable landscapes for generations to come.
